A unique identification number will receive every tourist attraction, hotel, aquapark and other tourist sites in Bulgaria, announced the Ministry of Tourism. In this way, the uniform classification of the tourist sites in the country would be facilitated and the functioning of the Unified Tourist Information System, which should start work up to 6 months.
The new distinguishing numbers are intended to remove the possibility of duplicating identical names of sites in tourism. The new identification mark will be introduced with a change in the Tourism Act. The amendments to the normative act are expected to regulate the status of the national resorts, thus solving the problems of financing and maintenance of the activities in them.
The final texts of the new law will be posted on the Ministry of Tourism website within two weeks. All interested parties will be able to submit their proposals for amendment of the texts within one month before the normative act is submitted for discussion by the Council of Ministers.
The classification regulation foresees changes to the requirements for hotel stars. 4 and 5-star sites will no longer have a minimum room cubicity, but will only have to meet room floor square meters requirements. In addition, there will be no requirement for air conditioning in mountain hotels, and accommodation will choose whether to have an exchange currency office.
