The official opening of the 50th Opera and Ballet Festival – Stara Zagora will also take place on November 22nd.
Performances and guest artists will appear on stage in the city under the Linden trees until December 7. On November 22, the premiere of Giacomo Mayer’s African Woman Opera. The performance is a joint production of the Stara Zagora Opera and Deutsche Opera – Berlin. The production is directed by Vera Nemirova. This will be the first performance of the work in Bulgaria.
On November 30, the festival will pay tribute to the opera prima Stefka Mineva on the occasion of her 50th anniversary on the stage. In her honor under the direction of Vladimir Boshnakov, Tsvetelina Vasileva, Maria Belcheva, Tatyana Shivarova, Sanya Anastasia, Kaludi Kaludov, Veselin Mihaylov, Niko Isakov and Alexander Krunev will sing.
The premiere of the Chopiniana ballet performance is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the development of ballet art in Stara Zagora. The show is made by the primal ballerina and honorary citizen of Stara Zagora Snezhana Deskova. Three more anniversaries are the focus of this year’s program. 120 years since the birth of Pancho Vladigerov will be celebrated with an exhibition of the House-Museum “Pancho Vladigerov” and a concert of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”with conductor Grigor Palikarov on November 29.
On December 1, with a screening of the television performance of the Nabucco opera by Giuseppe Verdi, filmed in 1983, the festival’s founder Dimitar Dimitrov will be honored. A special event on December 3rd with the presentation of a book and documentary is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the “builders” of the Bulgarian opera houses and symphony orchestras Ruslan Raychev.
During the Festival Gdansk Opera Baltic Festival will present the rarely performed work by Tais by Masne. You can see the performance on November 27 under the conductorship of the Brazilian conductor Jose Maria Florencio. The leading roles are Besa Lugici / Kosovo /, Marcin Bronnikovski, Ivaylo Mihailov. On November 28, the National Conservatory of Italian Conservatories will perform a concert program focusing on fragments of relatively unpopular Italian operas. The concert will be conducted by Alessandro Pinzauti.
The latest spectacle of the Falstaff opera by Verdi at the State Opera – Plovdiv will place the final chord of the festival days and nights on December 7 under the direction of the renowned Bulgarian conductor with respectable international career Pavel Balev with the special participation of world-renowned opera singers Kiwi and Mariana Pencheva.
