Bike march from Rousse, Bulgaria to Giurgiu, Romania will mark the 142nd anniversary of the outbreak of the April uprising. Anyone wishing to take part in the voyage must carry personal documents with him for crossing the border. The start will be at 10 a.m. on April 28th before the Pantheon of the Revival in the Danubian town.
Persons under 18 must have an authorized parent or escort. It is also obligatory for the participants in the bike march to wear reflective vests. The event is organized jointly by the Velo-Rousse Association and the VMRO section in the city by the Danube River.
By bicycles, enthusiasts will visit the place where the Giurgiu’s Revolutionary Committee has met and the decision to organize the April uprising is taken. A wreath and flowers will be served, and then the place where the Bulgarian poet and revolutioner Hristo Botev and his detachment boarded the Radetzky ship to visit Bulgaria and try to free the Ottoman Empire-born motherland will be visited.
