330 years since the Chiprovtsi uprising

330 years since the Chiprovsky uprising and 50 years since the announcement of Chiprovtsi for a town will be celebrated in the mountain village between 6th and 8th September. The rebellion against the Ottoman conquerors of Bulgaria broke out in 1688, and after its suppression, a large part of the Bulgarians flew from their native places and settled in present-day Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and other regions of the country.

The celebrations will begin at 11 am on September 6th, with a feast of the Gushovski Monastery. There is not much left of the monastery today. According to the legend, the monastery was founded in the place where every year on the day of St. Archangel Michael came to a deer with a white spot on his neck. He rested, drank water, and then people offered him a sacrifice in the name of the saint. One year, however, they did not wait for the deer to rest, and since then, no deer has appeared on the holiday, and the country fell under the Ottoman rule.

I love to travel because of the encounters with diverse people and cultures and the chance to touch other worlds. And this can happen even without leaving the borders of your own country. For example, at a festival, you can travel thousands of years and dozens of borders without leaving your place. For me, the journey is not only beautiful landscapes and ancient landmarks but also thousands of human stories. Let's learn them together.
