The cultural calendar of Burgas for 2017 is more than diverse. To help you plan your visits in the seaside town we will tell you what events you can attend during the year. The holidays in the city begin as early as January 6th whit the celebrations of 169 years since the birth of the poet Hristo Botev and the ceremony of the battle flags. On January 21st in the city is celebrated the day of maternity services – Babinden. February is dedicated to the Bulgarian traditions. On 8th are marked 139 years from the liberation of Burgas from the Ottoman yoke, and on 19th – 144 years of the death of Vasil Levski.
March in Burgas is dedicated to the arts. Then you can attend The International Film Festival “Na brega /On the shore/”, the national poetry contest “Hristo Botev” , the international theater days and the days of the Austrian and the German music. In April in Burgas is celebrated the Earth Day on 22nd and the Memorial Day of the Armenians on 24th. The fans of rock can discover new favorite groups during the festival of young rock bands that starts on April 16th. In April and May you can become part of the days of Austrian culture and the Spring Exhibition of Flowers Flora.
The events of May began with the celebration of the day of Europe on 9th and continue with the National Literary Competition “Petya Dubarova.” During the month, you can also attend the day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, to indicate on May 17 the day of the genocide of the Bulgarian people, the day of the museums on 18th and the day of the librarian on 19th. On 20th is celebrated the European Maritime Day and at the end of the month – Slavs’ week.
June begins with the celebration of the children on 1st, continues with the celebration of 141 years from the death of Botev on 2nd and the festival for innovative urban art “Join City”. July begins with typical Bulgarian holiday July morning on 1st. From June to August you can enjoy the movie masterpieces during the cinema festival Summer under the stars.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest summer attractions of Burgas – The festival of sand sculptures, will be launched in July. You can enjoy the masterpiece figures all the way to September. In July you can become part of the art fest “Seasons”, the initiative With a book on the beach and Jazz in Burgas. On the 18th the city will be celebrated 180 years since the birth of Vasil Levski. In July takes place the retro parade of classic cars and motorcycles.
From July to August in the city the music fans can enjoy the national song contest “Burgas and the Sea”. And from July to September – the Burgas music festivals “Emil Chakarov.” This year is expected to be held again the festival “Spirit of Burgas” from July to August. In August, the city hosts also Roller Fest and International Folklore Festival. From August to September will be held the International Dance Sport Tournament “The Cup of Burgas”. On August 12th will be celebrated the International Day of Youth.
In September is the autumn edition of the international exhibition of flowers “Flora.” On October 1st in Burgas is held the International Day of Music. In October the town hosts the autumn literary fests. A 31st is the International day of the Black Sea. On November 21st is celebrated the day of the Christian family. one of the most important holidays for Burgas is the day of St. Nicolas on 6th of December In December is held also the festival “Dancing Burgas”. The year ends Christmas’ and New Year’s celebrations.
