Cultural Center Trakart – Plovdiv

TRAKART built, exhibited and preserved priceless cultural heritage in “Archeological” underpass, Plovdiv – Roman floor mosaics dated ІI c – III c AD. RESIDENTIAL BUILDING EIPHNH, LATE ANTIQUITY – it is cultural monument of national and world significance. The peristyle residential building with floor mosaics is situated in the representative centre of the late-antiquity town of Philippopolis – at the foot of the Antique Theater and near the bishop’s basilica. The complex spreads over an area of about 1600 sq m, but so far only its southern half has been explored, where the discovered premises are divided into two parts (representative and business) and are exhibited in the Cultural Center – Trakart Museum. The rooms in the southwest part were used for household and business purposes – lots of household ceramics was found there. The eastern part includes the representative rooms of the residential complex, covered with exquisite multi-coloured floor mosaics that are situated around the peristyle court (colonnaded courtyard). In September 2003 the project for conservation and restoration of antique mosaics in the residential peristyle building EIPHNH, part of Cultural Centre – Tarkart Museum, was launched. Cultural Center – Trakart Museum has a small hall with 120 seats, located in an authentic antique environment and it is a popular place for concerts, book presentations, theatre performances, presentations, seminars. TRAKART has exhibition area of 500 sq m, distributed in the following way: –  160 sq m in situ antique Roman mosaic dated III c.-IV c. – peristyle antique building EIPHNH –  Permanent exposition – Glass in Antique Art – following the development of glass production during a period of 9 centuries – from V c. BCE to IV c. AD. –  Permanent exposition – Protothracian Portrayal – including ceramic objects and tableware from the eneolithic and neolitic epochs – Maritsa Culture –  Permanent exposition – Roman Miniature Portrayal – from I c. BCE to I c. AD. The visitors of Trakart Museum will be acquainted with the cultural heritage by means of survey presentation and lecture with 3D animated films. Cultural Center – Trakart Museum hosts established schools in: – acting skills – Lyuben Groys – for children and young people with instructors Ivana Papazova and Stoyan Sardanov – piano – painting Cultural center – Trakart Museum is situated in “Archeological” underpass, Plovdiv .
