International Festival of Authentic Folklore will be held in the village of Dorkovo, Pazardjik district from 28th to 30th July. The audience can watch the performances of the ensembles and dance groups totally free on the 29th and 30th. There is also no participation fee for the artists, but in order to take part in the festival, their repertoire must meet several conditions.

First of all, music, dances, and customs must be authentic. Performances of hatchets, old town songs, and repertoire, which has already been performed in the previous editions of the festival, are not allowed. In addition, individual artists can not be included in the festival. On the other hand, performers can be from all over the world.

As long as you are in Dorkovo, do not miss to visit its largest landmark – a mammoth model with huge tusks in the Pliocene Park near the village. In fact, beside him, you can see other finds and restoration of flora and fauna in the region from millions of years ago. During the expeditions conducted in the area were found many animals remain, as well as a new species of birds – Rhodopean capercaillie and a small bird of the partridge family.

The museum undoubtedly is most interesting for the children, but adults also rarely fail to make their way with the huge mammoth. The ticket for the museum costs 5 leva for adults /around 2,5 euro/, 3 leva for children /1,5 euro/. The entrance is free for the youngest children up to 3 years. In the ticket price is included the entrance to another landmark of Dorkovo – the fortress Tsepina. The medieval fortress is located 6 km from the village.
