Early Christian basilica in Plovdiv opens for tourists
On May 1 The Early Christian basilica in Plovdiv opens for tourists. The monument will be managed by the Municipality of Plovdiv. The opening hours will be from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm, every day. On May 4 visits are free of charge. Little Basilica is located on the boulevard “Maria Louisa” near by east fortress wall, built in the II century by Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Tourists can see also part of ancient street and parts of ancient buildings. The basilica is developed in two construction period – II and V century. It is a three naves basilica. The ruins of the archaeological monument аre founded accidentally in 1988 during the construction of an apartment building.
