If you want to enjoy great opera singers and to feel the power of the music in the open air you should definitely visit one of the 6 performances of Nabucco from Guiseppe Verdi in Sofia. All of them will be held outdoors in front of the Alexander Nevski cathedral in the Bulgarian capital. The first performance will be on 23rd of July and the last one on 31st of July.
The tickets cost from 10 leva /approximately 5 euro/ to 100 leva /approximately 50 euro/. The scene is with 1500 seats. The performances are played on a stage 40 meters long and 10 meters deep . The visitors will see artists from five countries – Bulgaria, Italy , Israel, Georgia and Romania. The beginning of all performances is at 09:00 p.m.
In the the role of Nabucco the public will see the Bulgarian baritone Vladimir Stoyanov and his Italian colleague Marco Vratogna. The story in the opera is set in Jerusalem and Babylon in 586 BC. and describes the unhappy fate of the Jews enslaved and exiled outside their homeland from Babylon.
On 23rd of July you can see the Nabucco opera performed also in Veliko Tarnovo as a part of the “Scene of the ages” festival. It would be held in the open air as well but in front of the historic fortress Carevec. The singers in this performance are mainly from the opera in Stara Zagora but are participating also artists from Macedonia.
