Enyovden for another year will be celebrated at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Etar near Gabrovo. On the day of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, the girls get up early at dawn and collect herbs and bouquets of wildflowers. According to the tradition, medicinal plants are most healing on this holiday, and the girls collect 77 and a half healing herbs.However, another Enyovden tradition will come to life in Etara on June 20th and 21st.
The girls can learn who is the most suitable husband for them by the flower bouquets they gather at that day. All the girls who bring their bouquets to Etara over the weekend will receive the book “Ethnological Research” as a gift, which tells about the traditions of this holiday and the divination and naming of the future groom. Unfortunatelly it is only in Bulgarian Families with children will be able to take part in the educational game “Guess the herbs”.
The celebration will continue on June 24 when you vcan ensure a good health during the next year by going under “the Enyovden wreath“. Everyone will be able to make their own bouquet and to participate in the educational game about herbs. On the 27th and 28th of June in the Ethnographic Museum you can get acquainted with practices for healing fairy diseases and re-engage in an educational game.
