You can get your first skills in knitting at the “Sharena Pletenitsa” Festival in Sofia for free. It will be held within two days – on November 3rd and 4th. Surprisingly the festival will begin with a lesson on knitting for men. At 02.30 pm you can learn how to make a scarf with only your fingers without the use of hooks. Between 4 pm and 5 pm you can learn how to make toys yourself, and children can participate in the workshop.

At 6 pm is the start of the fashion show of knitwear. Here you will find a collection of ethnic socks, warm knitwear designed for winter and stories told by yarn. On the second day of the festival at 11.30 am you can join the workshop for children and adults “Yarn Mandals”.

At 01.30 pm you can learn how to make ethnic bracelets, and at 3 pm how to knit a hook. The main goal of the “Sharena Pletenitsa” festival is to spread, support and develop one of the most Bulgarian crafts – knitting, as well as to support homeless people. Everyone can leave a donation at their discretion, with the sum collected being purchased yarn and wearing hats, scarves and gloves for homeless people.
