The highest cinema in Bulgaria at Shipka peak can be visited for free on 20 May. On the night is held the Night of the Museums. The screenings of one of the newest Bulgarian films “Voevoda” will start at 06:30 p.m. in the cinema hall of the Monument of Freedom. The tape tells of the fate of Rumyana Voyvoda, who led battles against the Ottoman rulers that occupied Bulgaria. The permanent exhibition “Shipka Epopeia” will be open for free in the monument. Apart from our own transport to the monument, you can also get free of charge from Kazanlak by bus. The bus leaves at 5 p.m. from the City Art Gallery. If you are in the region for free, you can visit the Museum itself and see the exhibits of the Thracian tombs, the gold of the Thracian king Sevt III and artifacts from Seuthopolis. Do not miss the art gallery as well.
At the European Night of Museums, you can visit 45 museums and galleries in Sofia for free. Among them is the National Archaeological Museum, where for the first time in Bulgaria is displayed the original golden treasure of the Proto-Bulgarians of Nad Sent Miklos. In the National Museum of History, besides the permanent exhibits and the unique Bulgarian gold and silver treasure, you will also find new exhibits for Vasil Levski, as well as a concert of the Sredets Chamber Choir. Overnight in the capital, there are projections of scenes from favorite Bulgarian films and a bunch of other events in the open free museums and galleries.
In Varna, you will be able to visit 17 museums, 9 galleries, exhibitions, 20 art spaces free of charge and attend several free nights at the Museum Night. Some establishments have also provided a special music program, which however has a paid entrance, unlike any other events on Saturday night. Undoubtedly among the most interesting places, you can visit for free in Varna is the Archaeological Museum of the town, where the first processed gold in the world from the Varna necropolis is exhibited. In the night you can become a knight at the park “Vladislav Varnenchik”, to attend a demonstration how to make silverware and various concerts and presentations.
In Burgas, besides a free visit to the museums and galleries in the city, there is a special program for the Museum Day. At 6 p.m. the exhibitions of Lukovit Treasure and the treasure of Khan Kubrat by Malaya Pereshchepina, provided by NIM, will be presented at the Archeological Museum of the City. You will also be able to see the golden jewels of the Thracian priestess Lesespepra. In front of the museum, you will enjoy the festive program of the city brass band of Burgas. From 06:30 p.m. at the Historical Museum of the city, besides the permanent expositions, you will also see the latest exhibition “Wall of Letters, Written Signs of Antiquity”. From 06:45 p.m. there is a folklore program in the yard of the Ethnographic Museum. A 7 p.m. exhibition on Troyan carvings will be opened at the same venue.
In the future European capital of culture, Plovdiv, you can also visit unique museums and galleries at Night at Museums. In addition, the city has also provided a rich affiliation program. A musical night began at 8 p.m. at the Zlatju Boyadjiev Gallery and will continue until midnight. The Balabanov House offers exhibitions of photography, painting, graphics and sculptures. At 06:30 p.m., workshop for making mosaics starts in the Little Basilica, followed by a concert by Slavena and a chamber vocal formation with conductor Stanimira Manolova. The Roman stadium and other attractions in the city will also be open free to visitors.
