Every Saturday and Sunday, tourists will be able to visit the main attractions of Velingrad for free. The idea is for the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurants in the spa capital of the Balkans and has to prove to the guests of the city that there are dozens of other reasons to visit in it besides the mineral water. The tours will be supported by the Municipality and by students and retirees.
Information will also be provided by the Historical Museum of Velingrad. Those who have been included in the free tours will be able to see and learn more about the church Assumption of Mary, the monument to the victims of the Balkan War, the square with the spring, Hristo Botev’s monument, the oldest community center in Velingrad – “Otets Paisiy-1893 “, The House of Tsveta with the Art Gallery, the monument of Nikolay Gyaurov and the sculptures of Velichko Minekov in front of the building of the municipality.
In addition, tourists will hear the most interesting facts about the mineral springs and the baths in the town, about the sights in the Chepino and Kamenitsa neighborhoods, in the vicinity of Velingrad and in the neighboring municipality of Rakitovo. A short performance of local folk ensembles is also considered as part of the tour’s attractions. Free tours will start at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. They will start from the building of the Tourist Information Center at Svoboda Square in Velingrad.
