For another year, Kyustendil will gather guests from near and far for a cherry party. The attractive festival will be held from 22nd to 24th June and will include various games, competitions, concerts and free tours. The beginning of the event will be given by an exhibition of students inspired by the work of Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master in the gallery of the same name in Kyustendil.
In front of the municipality, the audience will be greeted with the performances by the singer Irina Florin. From 10 am on June 23 in the garden in front of the Kyustendil municipality you will also be able to see the exhibition of the cherry and cherry bazaar, as well as the exhibition of craftsmen and art workshop for children. The official opening of the festival is at 11 am.
Different varieties of cherries are then presented. And the most long-awaited cherry competition will be held. On it will be chosen the biggest cherry, the most attractive “veshalitsa” /typical for the region arrangement of cherries/ and the most beautiful cherry stand. At 12 o’clock the folk festival “Chereshchitsa rod Brodila” starts and at 3 pm the winners of the cherry competitions will be announced.
The city’s guests can enjoy the sightseeing in Kyustendil for free, and the gathering point is in front of the Tourist Information Center in the city at 4 pm. The festive concert at Velbuzhd Square will start at 8 pm. The exhibition of cherries will continue on Sunday, June 24th. From 10.30 am Dragomir Draganov will hold the culinary race “Cherries in the kitchen”, and at 12 o’clock are scheduled games with the sweet fruit. At 1 pm there will be a tourist group headed by the Tourist Information Center in the city to visit for free the fortress Hisarlaka. At 01.30 pm the winners of the culinary race will be announced.
