For the third consecutive year, Devnya municipality organizes the historical festival “Marcianopolis – the life in the ancient city”. On June 9 and 10 the guests and residents of the city could enjoy battles and sights of past ages. On the 10th of June, the program of the event continues with the defile of groups for historical restorations presenting the Thracian era from the past of Bulgaria. Viewers will be able to taste “Thracian” wine and learn a traditional craft.

From 11 am, Marcianopolis will become part of the Roman Empire again and you will see aristocrats and warriors demonstrating weapons and combat equipment. The gladiator fights will begin at 12 o’clock, and from 1 pm the audience will hear the speech of Spartacus slave, who led his fellow gladiators in revolt against the Roman Empire. At 2 pm the festival will be closed with lottery and awards to the lucky ones.
