Tasting different plum brandy will be just one of the attractions during the Plum Festival in Troyan. The event will take place between 22nd and 25th of September. The plum brandy called “slivova rakia“is typical for the region and is one of the trademarks of Troyan.
Every day you can expect and many culinary delights typical for the region. You can get acquainted with the masters of traditional crafts and buy from their products. On the open stage will be engaged local and visiting groups. You can take part in various art workshops in ceramics, painting, working with natural materials, carving and decoration of fabrics.
On 22nd of September in Troyan will be held a concert of the winners of the TV show “Bulgaria’s Got Talent” orchestra Vivo Montana. The official start of the festival will be given on September 23 with the ritual lighting of the cauldron of brandy at 11:00 a.m. It would be followed by a concert of the Bulgarian national ensemble “Philip Kutev”.
The competition for best producer of homemade plum brandy starts at 11:30 a.m. on 24th of September. The ranking does make the audience. For the visitors are provided numerous culinary delights. You can take part in a competitions to prepare the best cake or the best sweet plum. Or in the competition for the most delicious dish or appetizer made from plums. Saturday will provide another demonstration of flowers arrangement and a concert of Lora Karadjova and her ballet.
On 25th of September will be awarded the winners of the festival competitions. Will be drawn also the grand prize from the festival lottery. The festival will close with performances of Nikolina Chakardakova and the Nevrokop dance ensemble.
There is also a program of the festival in the neighboring village of Oreshak. There also will be held a contest for the best homemade brandy. The audience will enjoy also the music of Toni Dimitrova, Toma Sprostranov, young talents from the region and dance ensemble Plovdiva.
