A centre of Kalofer lace with a permanent exposure to it is opened today in the Bulgarian town. The building in which it is located is part of the memorial complex “Hristo Botev”. There will also be a community centre for making the traditional lace. On August 15, this year the city celebrates the celebration of beautiful embroidery.
The history of the Kalofer’s lace dates back more than 100 years. The traditional craft is developed on the basis of making Brussels lace, and in the past, the city even opens a school with a two-year training course in the subtleties of the lady craft. During the holiday you can try to steal the finesse of Kalofer lace knitting by the local craftsmen.
