In 1894, the first kilogram of red pepper was milled in the mill of Alexander Dimitrov not only in the village but also in Bulgaria. In 1896, again in Kurtovo Konare, the first early tomatoes in Bulgaria were transported from Constantinople thanks to the same Alexander Dimitrov. Not by chance one of the first refrigerators in the country was built in the village in the first half of the 20th century, and the best Bulgarian pepper variety is called “Kurtovska kapia”. From 2014 local varieties such as Rose tomato – “big, babin” and “Kurtovka” apple are listed in the World Treasure of Flavors.

I love to travel because of the encounters with diverse people and cultures and the chance to touch other worlds. And this can happen even without leaving the borders of your own country. For example, at a festival, you can travel thousands of years and dozens of borders without leaving your place. For me, the journey is not only beautiful landscapes and ancient landmarks but also thousands of human stories. Let's learn them together.
