A festival of lavender will be held in Karlovo on 23 and 24 June.  During the two days oхthe central square, “20th of July” in the city will be located workshops of producers of essential oils and handmade artworks. On the first day of the festival at 10 a.m., the youngest can attend a children’s lavender show on the square as well. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be held a discussion on the challenges in the sector in “Vasil Karaivanov” Hall. The day will be closed with a rock concert at 7 p.m. on the main square featuring Exit Reality and Enthronement.

June 24th will start with a liturgy in the temple of the Assumption of the Holy Mother at 8 a.m. At 10 a.m. at the Patev’s House in Karlovo, you can attend the celebrations of the herbs and essential oils holiday Enyovden. At 11 a.m. in the park of Karlovo, you can witness the Bulgarian folk traditional ritual called Butterfly. In the past, the ritual was usually held for the purpose of shedding rain from the heavens in great drought. The forgotten ritual combined with a prayer for rain is usually performed by young girls.

In the past, they walked around the houses singing and dancing in a circle with small steps, with the girls carrying flowers and green branches. The hosts donated them with food and present because it was believed that the girls would bring rain and rich harvest. From 11:30 a.m. on the square in Karlovo you will be able to hear and enjoy the dance of different performers of Bulgarian folk music. The end of the festival will be celebrated at 7 p.m. with a concert featuring Christian Kostov, the Belcanto quartet, the Era Ballet and other performers.
