One of the most romantic places to visit in Bulgaria is the Balchik castle. “Quiet nest” is build from the Romanian Queen Marie who felt in love with the beautiful seaside of Balchik. The Italians architect hired for the job designed the castle as it was part from the magnificent nature around.  A florist from Switzerland arranged the park. The century that past made the different flowers, trees and cactuses so beautiful that today there is a Botanical garden on the place that was once a royal park. It accommodates 2000 different plants. And is most famous for the  collection of large-sized cactuses , the second of its kind in Europe after the one in Monaco. The price to enter both the palace and the Botanical garden is 14 leva /around 7 euro/. Today there is one more reason to visit the palace. The “Quiet nest” is also the home of a boutique winery. In the Royal Wine Cellar you can try very specific and unusual products. We recommend you to try the melon rakia. Rakia is a typical Bulgarian brandy and can be made from different fruits. The alcohol content of rakia is normally 40%. There are two types of melon rakia – with and without honey.
