Plovdiv lives 5 days in the rhythm of the folklore

From July 30th to August 3rd the future European capital of culture Plovdiv will live in the rhythm of folklore. Representatives of 10 countries will present their typical music and rhythms under the hills. Every day, the participants of the International Folklore Festival – Plovdiv will stage the streets of the city and in the evenings you can watch free gala concerts of the groups from all over the world.

During the five days of the event you will be able to learn more about the folklore traditions of Bulgaria, Macedonia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, France, the Netherlands, Georgia, Indonesia and Mexico. Every evening at 5:30 pm the clubs will march through the streets of the city. They will start from “Dom Levski”, will cross the main street and will reach the stage of “Stefan Stambolov” square, where they will perform short concerts. The program will continue with the official evening performances of the participants on the stage of the Ancient Theater from 8 pm.

Apart from the concerts in Plovdiv, performances will take place in other areas of the region. On July 31, the teams from Ukraine, France and Macedonia will be presented in Peshtera. On August 1st, again in Peshtera, participants from Georgia, Mexico and Indonesia will dance. The ensembles from Slovenia, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic will perform on August 2 a concert in the town of Hissarya.
