By April 30th, all enthusiasts can participate in the traditional Etar Open Ethnographic Museum Contest for the production of scarecrows. In the competition can take part both individual participants and groups. All scarecrows must be made of natural materials such as wood, straw, clay, textiles or paper. In addition, contestants should keep in mind that their creations will then be exposed outdoors, so they must be able to withstand various weather changes.

An evaluation bonus will be for those who are as close as possible to the idea of the traditional scarecrows used to chase the birds from plantations in the 1980s. Creations must also be of human growth. Scarecrows will compete in five different categories – the most traditional, the funniest, the most artistic, the scariest, and for complete composition.

The winners will receive awards and a diploma. Special prizes are also provided. Scarecrows can be sent to Gabrovo 5309, Gen. Deroginski “144, Open Ethnographic Museum” Etar “, for the contest. It is obligatory for the participants to write their names and their age. The awarding of the winners will be on May 21 in Etara. The jury chairman is a representative of the Museum of House of Humor and Satire. In the jury participate also two museum specialists from ETO “Etar”.

While running the competition in the ethnographic museum will be organized workshops for making scarecrows on preliminary request. Etara also offers subscription cards. They entitle each child to participate in 9 different workshops. The price of the card is 6 leva (approximately 3 Euro). The card also entitles you to a 40% discount on the entrance fee in Etara for the child and his / her parents. Four workshops can still be visited – for making puppets, Enyov wreath, wax candles and figures and plum decorations.
