The ski area of Bansko forbids plastic

The establishments that are located in Bansko ski area this winter do not offer any plastic products. Plastic bottles have been replaced with glass bottles, cups with cardboard. The disposable slides from which the skiers will receive are now made of bamboo, and disposable utensils such as dishes and stirrers are already made of completely biodegradable materials such as wood or paperboard. In 2018, 1.3 tonnes of plastic products were collected and handed over to the recycling zone.

The new eco-initiative is the concessionaire of the ski-zone joint-stock company “Yulen”. The rules have been in force since the beginning of this season. Despite the innovations, prices for end-customers of food and beverages remain unchanged. The concessionaire underlines that since 2012 garbage in the ski area has been collected separately, and this is also part of the efforts of the owner of the track to preserve nature.
