The spring carnivals continue in Kovachevtsi

During the end of March, a masquerade carnival is traditionally held in the village of Kovachevtsi in Pernik. The dancing men with scary masks will chase away the evil spirits from the village and will announce the coming of spring on March 19 in the carnaval ” The Mask Valley 2018″.

Visitors to the carnival will be able to see all the Survakar groups /kind of mummers/ in the region, who each year participate in native and world carnivals and are usually returning with awards for authenticity and interesting performances. If you want to attend the fun, you have to reach the center of the village at 10 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday.

I love history, to walk through old cobblestone streets, to smell the air of the past times and to feel the legends in the air. And I'm lucky to have been born in a country with a glorious past and a lot of stories to tell. Bulgaria was founded more than 1,300 years ago and has never changed its name. But the life of people, their everyday habits, their traditions, their music and their art have changed over the centuries. I invite you to take a walk through the different ages of Bulgaria and to get to know it better.
