During the end of March, a masquerade carnival is traditionally held in the village of Kovachevtsi in Pernik. The dancing men with scary masks will chase away the evil spirits from the village and will announce the coming of spring on March 19 in the carnaval ” The Mask Valley 2018″.
.
Visitors to the carnival will be able to see all the Survakar groups /kind of mummers/ in the region, who each year participate in native and world carnivals and are usually returning with awards for authenticity and interesting performances. If you want to attend the fun, you have to reach the center of the village at 10 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
As every mummer’s carnival in Pernik village will be able to recognize different images in costumed marching groups – priest, bear with bear-trainer, Gypsies, bride, groom, and the entire wedding entourage, doctor-bearer, grandmother, and grandfather.
