On 1st of April will open the newest attractions of Veliko Turnovo – the Fortress Trapezitsa and Shishmans’ bathroom. In the castle, you can see the recovered 160 meters from the northern city wall and 3 churches from the 13th century with original frescoes. Furthermore, the complex has an interactive museum where you can see the found objects from the excavations of the fortress. There are nearly 1-kilometer walking paths. Near the hill was built a parking for the convenience of the tourists. Trapezitza is open to visitors every day from 8:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. The entrance ticket costs 6 leva /approximately 3 euro/, as students will pay only 2 leva /approximately 1 euro / and the people of 60 years – 3 leva /approximately 1,5 euro/. The children up to 7 years and people with disabilities will see the castle for free.
If you take advantage to reach the attraction with the funicular you need to pay the extra 10 leva /approximately 5 euro /. There are various discounts for families with children. Every last Thursday of the month you can enter the castle itself for free. The dates until the end of the year are April 27, May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31, September 28, October 26, November 30 and December 28 if the fortress is not closed to visitors in the winter.
For visitors will be open also the Shishmans’ bathroom, which was in ruins during the last 30 years. According to archaeologists and historians, the attraction is the most authentic monument of medieval Veliko Tarnovo. Tourists will be able to see the authentic walls of the bathroom, the original floors, and pillars of the heating system. The already restored Shishmans’ bathroom will become part of the tourist routes in “Asenov” quarter in the town that include the churches “St. St. Peter and Paul”, „St. Forty Martyrs”, „ St. Ivan Rilski” and” St. Dimitar. “
