Unique thracian mask displayed in Plovdiv

Unique thracian mask helmet worth 3 milion euro is showcased in the Museum of Archaegology in Plovdiv. Its is dated to the 1st century AD and had been discovered in 1905 during archaeological excavations in a burial mound in the Kamenitsa Quarter. It consists of a helmet made of iron, and decorated with a silver laurel wreath. And of a silver mask covering the face and the ears. It was made in Rome, and was worn at celebrations and parades. However, it was owned by a Thracian aristocrat from ancient Philipopolis (the anciant name of the city of Plovdiv) .
