For the eighth consecutive year, the fans of retro cars will be able to see restored old Trabants and Wartburgs on March 18th in Veliko Tarnovo. In the parade are expected to join at least 80 cars from Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and Germany. The audience will be able to enjoy different variations on the familiar from decades ago as “cardboard car” – pickups, convertibles, Cabrio and even limousines.
To take place in the festival you have to join at 10 a.m. on March 18 at 10 to the parking lot behind the Military Club in the city. An hour later the participating retro cars in the parade will be presented in front of Veliko Tarnovo municipality. At 12 o’clock begins the parade of the vehicles in the city.
The cars will pass through the streets “Vasil Levski”, “Independence”, “Stefan Stambolov”, “Ivan Vazov”, “Nicholas Piccolo”, “Nikola Gabrovski “,” Krakow “,” Bulgaria“, ” Marmarliyska and “Magistralna”. As in the Square “Tsar Ivan Asen I” and the Commercial Park “Veliko Tarnovo”. At 1 p.m. is starting the race of driving in the parking lot in front of the shop “Technopolis”.
A jury will determine which are the best preserved and most attractive Trabants. After the race will be given awards to the participants. Everyone will receive a diploma, a T-shirt advertising the festival and a sticker for their participation. Parents can easily watch the parade as for the youngest viewers are provided a playground.
The word Trabant actually means companion. The production of the iconic car starts in the German Democratic Republic in 1957. Last cars leave the factories in 1991. 3 million cars are made during that period. But the collectors did not give up his passion for their favorite car and still, there are hundreds of models in a good condition around the globe.
