The Bulgarian folk singer Iliya Lukov will lead the traditional dance on the festival in the Troyan Monastery for the Orthodox holiday Sirni Zagovezni that celebrates the beginning of the Christian fast. This is not the first time for the singer to participate in charitable initiatives. The festival in the monastery aims to raise funds for the restoration of the frescoes in the monastery church.
The start of the holiday will be on 25th February at 12:00 o’clock in the parking lot in front of the monastery. Then will be lit the traditional purifying fire. At 01:00 p.m. will be the concert featuring Ilia Lukov and dance groups from the villages of Cherni Osam and Oreshak. An hour later, will begin the concert with chants.
In front of the monastery will be restored traditional Bulgarian customs and at 05:00 p.m. in the church of the monastery will be completed the festive Orthodox worship. While you are there you can pray to the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary Trieruchitsa that gives healing to believers and is kept in the monastery. On February 26th you can attend the presentations of the monastery workshop.
