In the spring in the Nederland and Turkey are held festivals of tulips. Both countries argue about the origin of the beautiful flowers and who has made them popular around the world. In fact, tulips really came from the Ottoman Empire. The first tulip gardens were in Haskovo and Edirne, which were Bulgarian territories occupied by force. So, in fact, the tulips originate from Bulgaria.
To see this fact, visit the Botanical Garden in Balchik until the early days of May. Until then you can enjoy the unique color combinations of tulips, violets, hyacinths and daffodils in the background of the sparkling blue sea. The entrance for this pleasure will cost you 28 leva or 14 euro for two. The price of the parking is 3 leva or around 1,5 euro per car for an unlimited stay.
Besides the white, yellow, red, purple, colorful and black tulips in the Botanical Garden you can also see the permanent cactus exposition. And enjoy cactus both tiny in size and those who have survived a few human lives. In the garden itself, you can spend a long time walking by the greenery, fountains, waterfalls and centuries-old trees.
The Botanical Garden has another landmark, though of another type – the Queen’s Winery House. In it, you can taste the variety of sweet wines the producers are proud of. Or enjoy the unusual melon or pumpkin brandy. Or just sweeten your life with syrup of figs or roses.
