Veliko Tarnovo celebrates with Sound and Light

On March 22 Veliko Tarnovo will celebrate the feast of the city. The date was not chosen by accident. This year on March 22 marks 787 years since the winning battle of Tsar Ivan Asen II at Klokotnitsa. Then the Bulgarian army defeated the armies of Epirus despot Theodore Comnenus.

The celebration begins with a solemn Mass in the early morning at 07: 30 a.m, which will be held in the church “St. 40 Martyrs “by His Eminence Metropolitan of Veliko Tarnovo Gregory involving also the quartet “Angelic Voices”. At 9:00 a.m. will be served flowers of the sarcophagus of Tsar Kaloyan in the churchyard. Then in the temple will be read words from Assen column dedicated to the successful battle of Klokotnitsa and the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov will give a speech. And will be carried out ceremony for health and wellbeing.

Then there will be a festive procession from the church to the Municipality. At 10: 30 a.m. will be officially erected the flags and the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo will deliver a new speech. At 11:00 a.m. begins the concert with participation of Ruslan Maynov, formation “Five Seasons”, the children group “Singing bells” and folk ensemble “Iskra”. Following are other commemorative events, and at 01: 30  p.m. will be held another concert with prominent local artists. Throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 06 p.m. in the park “Marno pole” is provided animation for young and old.

For the guests of Veliko Tarnovo is provided a free tour, which begins at 02:00 p.m. on the square “Tsar Asen I” and ends 3 hours later. The route passes through the Assen gate, the district “Asenov”, the churches “St. Ivan Rilski ” and “Apostles St. Peter and Paul“, the Bishop’s Bridge, ” St. George”church the “Great Lavra ” and ends at ” St. 40 martyrs. “

At 04:30 p.m. is provided a warm-up party in the European information center as an hour later the participants goes to the square “Tsar Asen I”. On the square is the culmination of the celebrations. At 07:50 p.m. will be fired glowing paper lanterns in the sky/ And at 08:00 p.m. everyone will be free to enjoy the audio-visual show “Tsarevgrad Tarnov- sound and light.” The celebration will end with fireworks.
