Visit Tsarevets and Trapezitsa free once a month

You can visit the historical Tsarevets and Trapezitsa in Veliko Tarnovo every last Thursday of the month for free. In January the free entrance to attractions in the old Bulgarian capital will be available on January 26. This day can save you 12 lev /approximately 6 euro/ for access to both sites. The entrance to Tsarevets and Trapezitsa cosst usually  6 lev /approximately 3 euro/ for  each historic site.

The opening hours of the attractions from November to late March are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the rest of the year you can visit Tsarevets and Trapezitsa from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Even in free Thursday, will have to pay 10 lev or approximately 5 euro for the touristic train which reaches Trapezitza. If you want to save money or  you can reach the hill by walking. Children under 7 years enter free the attractions throughout the year.

Tsarevets Fortress is among the most visited tourist sites in Bulgaria. While you are exploring the restored walls, the Patriarchate Museum, the Imperial Palace, the North Gate and the Baldwin Tower, you can also enjoy panoramic views of Veliko Tarnovo. Fortress Trapezitza is one of the newest attractions in the city and is open for visits from a few months.
