World experts in mosaics are meeting in Plovdiv from February 27 to March 1. The iInternational symposium “Conservation and restoration of mosaics” will be held at the House of Culture “Boris Hristov”. A presentation of the floor mosaics in the Episcopal basilica of Philipopol / the old name of Plovdiv/ from 4th – 6th century will be held from the project manager for the socialization of the priceless cultural artifacts Assoc. Prof. Elena Kantareva.

The experts’ program includes sightseeing in the sights of the city that will be European Capital of Culture in 2019. ThesScientists will examine the Episcopal basilica, the Little basilica, the basis for restoration and conservation of mosaics of the Archaeological Museum, the Cultural Center “Trakart”, the Archaeology museum and the Old town of Plovdiv.

They will enjoy also a concert of Ensemble “Trakia”. The discussions on March 1 are open to the general audiеnce. Among the participants in the congress is Roberto Nardi – the Director of the Center for Archaeological Conservation in Rome and President of the International Committee for the conservation of mosaics, as well as experts from France, Greece, Tunisia, Macedonia, Syria, Great Britain, and Spain.
